The Franchise 500 Ranking is known as the world’s first, best and most comprehensive franchise ranking, with 2020 being its 41st year.  Bach to Rock’s consistent presence in the Franchise 500 ranking is indicative of the brand’s reputation as a successful music education franchise.  To view Bach to Rock’s complete list of industry accolades, which spans the brand’s ten years of franchising, click here

Changing the Way Students Learn Music

Bach to Rock is reshaping music education on a national scale by turning solitary, boring music lessons into a group activity that is more like a team sport.  B2R focuses on providing a well-balanced music education because, ultimately, that is what parents are looking for. Unlike other music school franchises, Bach to Rock has an extensive curriculum. Students learn the intricacies of music — from theory to how to read music. Bach to Rock is the music school kids would have designed for themselves.  They get to jam with other kids right away and play current hits. The learning is the same, but the enjoyment factor is much higher.

Bach to Rock Franchise Opportunities

Bach to Rock is currently seeking qualified candidates to open franchise locations in major metropolitan markets throughout the country. Bach to Rock is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to build a business that is dedicated to helping children and adults learn to play the music they love. Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, has instructed over 55,000 aspiring musicians since opening its first school in 2007 and it is trending to become a $25 million brand.  The franchise’s steady growth has come, in part, because it appeals to a cross-section of eager entrepreneurs and passionate music lovers who hope to restyle the music education industry by owning a Bach to Rock music school. They are transitioning to second careers after achieving success in other professions.  Simultaneously, they see the profit potential of a sustainable franchise in a market that’s largely untapped.  Presently, Bach to Rock is comprised of 6 corporate schools and 35 franchisee-owned schools.   Nineteen of those schools are in eight Top Ten markets, ranked by population.

“Bach to Rock franchisees are coming to us after successful careers in other professions, fueled by a passion for music and music education.  They have demonstrated success in managing something, whether that’s as vice president or president within a company or whether it’s their own business. Plus, they are involved members of their community,” said Brian Gross, President of Bach to Rock.

Bach to Rock is profiling top franchisees to dive into this trend to inspire others about the unique proposition of becoming a Bach to Rock franchisee in a second career.

In a fierce competition at the 2019 Bach to Rock Battle of the Bands, 36 bands went head-to-head at City Winery in New York City on Sunday, June 9.

Over 800 proud parents, family members and fans came to support and cheer on students from Bach to Rock Port Washington, Bach to Rock Mamaroneck and Bach to Rock Nanuet.

The groups performed in both the Main Space and The Loft at City Winery and rocked the iconic hotspot.

“The students, who range in age from 7 to 18, and their band coaches worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this tremendous event and I’m beyond proud of all the performers,” said Bach to Rock Port Washington Director Elana Hayden. “While this is a competition, the main point is for the kids to have a great experience, to get to perform in a top New York City venue – and to have fun and feel like a rock star!”

Six seasoned music industry professionals, Carolee Goodgold (Carly Simon), John Miller (Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (Lady Gaga, Dr. John), Cameron Rasmussen (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway), Jason Reese (Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti) and Wayne Schuster (Blood, Sweat, and Tears) judged the performances.

Over 150 students performed on stages that have hosted Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, Joan Osborne, Taj Mahal, Patti Smith, and Buster Poindexter to name a few.

The bands were scored on several criteria including musical ability, technical ability, stage presence, material, creativity, and professionalism. All the competitors study a variety of musical disciplines at Bach to Rock music school, including music theory, instrument instruction, recording arts, performance arts, voice lessons and band coaching.

This is our student of the month: Indica! She has been playing piano for one year now! When she isn't playing music, she enjoys biking and disc golf. A fun fact about Indica is that her name means "night star princess protected by wolves". Her favorite thing about being a part of Bach to Rock is singing with her band Purple Nightmare, as well as playing piano with her mom who also takes lessons here. Congrats Indica!
